Overview.
The College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Science (CAFES) is one of the leading academic units of Romblon State University dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in the fields of agriculture, natural resource management, and environmental stewardship. Situated in Barangay Agpudlos, San Andres, Romblon, the campus offers an ideal setting for experiential learning and research, surrounded by vast natural landscapes that serve as a living laboratory for students and faculty alike.
CAFES offers three undergraduate programs: the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA), which trains students in crop science, animal science, and agricultural enterprise development; the Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF), which equips future foresters with the skills needed for sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation; and the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES), which prepares graduates to address pressing environmental challenges through science-based solutions, policy development, and community engagement.
Currently, the college has a total enrollment of 766 students, reflecting the growing interest of young people in pursuing careers that contribute to food security, environmental sustainability, and rural development. To support these learners, the college is served by a dedicated team of 42 faculty and staff members who are committed to providing quality instruction, research mentorship, and extension services to partner communities.
The campus itself spans 84 hectares, providing ample space for instructional farms, forest reserves, research plots, and demonstration areas that enrich academic programs and strengthen linkages with stakeholders. This vast landholding also ensures that students gain practical, hands-on experience in real-world agricultural and environmental settings.
With its strong academic foundation, committed faculty, and abundant natural resources, CAFES continues to be a vital institution in Romblon, shaping graduates who are competent, responsible, and committed to nation-building.
